It’s not too long of a read. See after jump :]
So this dude came in and bought a Mercedes-Benz GLC 2 weeks ago cash. It was $43,000 ish. Welp, after 2 weeks and only 300 miles, his wife decided, “meh, I like the GLE more” He came today to trade the GLC for the GLE. They only gave him $38,000 ish for the GLC that is basically brand new LOLOLOLOLOL. $5000 gone just because she couldn’t make up her mind lol.
Joke is on me because that is probably nothing to them. $5,000 is a lot!

She said it was “me or the car”
We see who won that battle

But..... But...... The GLE is ugly.

What’s the difference between the GLC and GLE? Is it like an X3 vs. an X5? I lost the trail on Mercedes’ model names long ago.

Nah, I can’t feel sorry for him here. He could have Autotraded it for almost full market value. He didn’t have to immediately lose $5k if he and his wife were just a little patient.

DID YOU JUST SAY—
NO NO NO
TAKE IT BACK

Yep. You nailed it. X3 vs. X5.

She clearly didn’t want a car named after a Mazda compact from the 70's, even if it was a Great Little Car...

Feel no pain for him.

It’s pretty ugly...

GLC is a GL version of the C class, the GLE is a GL version of the E class. Quite easy really, once you figure it out.
![]() 02/25/2016 at 17:32 |

But wasn’t there a GLK at some point? And just a GL?
I’m assuming they changed naming schemes.

I’m assuming they changed naming schemes.
Your assumption is correct.

GLA is a new one and I think GL will be GLS if i’m not mistaken
![]() 02/25/2016 at 17:35 |

It’s not too bad. GLE is rather nice

They were both ok I suppose. Still a bad decision on their end

Know a guy who bought a new 911. Had it for 3 weeks, hated it, traded it in on a new SL550. Of course, he’s 50 and had to take dad with him to the dealer to write a check from the trust fund grandpa provided. Didn’t ask him how much of a hit he took because the whole thing made me ill.

I was just thinking about that the other day. If you hypothetically had $10,000 in the bank, $10 is no big deal to you. Lunch out, $10? Sure. $10 for a drink at a bar? Pricey, but whatever. Scale that up to if you had $1,000,000 “in the bank” and $1000 is your “No big deal, just a mid-priced cocktail” amount. $10 million? $10,000 is your $10 dollar bill. I mean, it’s not that simple, but still. You might not bat an eye at a $10,000 hit for trading a car your wife didn’t love.
Just an interesting thought experiment...

But I totally see your point. When driving around to drop off customers cars, especially at Aston, You see some of the cars parked at these huge mansions. What are they? Besides the occasional s-Class or 5 series, it is mostly Accords, Ford CUV’s, nicer trimmed pick up trucks, etc. Them not giving too much thought into $5,000 buying a “regular” Mercedes SUV, lets me believe your theories that much more
